New Tool for Digital Cinema-Photo Research

Acal BFi, pan-European partner of Photoresearch, is proud to introduce the new CINEBRATE : it is our latest spectrally based product and is designed specifically for the digital cinema projector installer / calibrator markets.
It is the epitome of ease-of-use in that you simply aim and shoot. There are no set-up menus to navigate through, there are no screens to scroll through, there is not even an eyepiece that needs to be looked through or focusing that needs to be done. The learning curve on this product is about 10 minutes. All at a very attractive price !!!
The steps necessary to make a measurement with the CineBrate are:
  1. Turn the instrument on.
  2. Turn on the laser pointer and aim it where you wish to measure.
  3. Press the measure button.
  4. Read the results.

Ultra-Low Power Laser Ranging Receiver

BFi OPTiLAS, pan-European partner of Amplification Technologies, is proud to announce a dedicated ultra-low power laser ranging receiver based on proprietary DAPD technology in the NIR (InGaAs).

These are the second generation of our technology and performance (PDE 30%) is much improved. We have two detector designs, one at 1064 nm and another at 1550 nm.

We also have designed a custom amplifier to match this application. The combination is designed to match the longer pulses (7-20 ns) used in laser ranging.

Sensitivity is at least 10X better than the best APDs at these wavelengths. This can be translated into longer ranging distance or lower laser powers. Our design eliminates the need for TIA amplifiers.

New Laser Diode Modules For Machine Vision

BFi OPTiLAS Extends Its Machine Vision Solutions with ProPhotonix InViso™ Micro

BFi OPTiLAS, European partner of ProPhotonix Ltd, is pleased to announce the launch of InViso™ Micro, an extension to its highly successful InViso laser diode module product line.

InViso combines a flat form factor with a "no tools required" external focus to produce an extremely uniform laser line. Its unique form factor provides instant alignment and expedites integration while ensuring a high-degree of repeatability.

InViso Micro incorporates all the existing InViso features while delivering fine line widths down to 16 µm at 120 mm working distance. Both InViso models are available in a range of wavelengths and power levels up to 100mW.

Ultra-Low Absorption Coatings by Precision Photonics

BFi OPTiLAS, pan-European partner of Precision Photonics Corporation (PPC), is pleased to announce the availability of its ultra-low absorption line of thin film coatings.
Enabled by advanced in-house metrology and expertise in ion beam sputtered (IBS) deposition, we are able to routinely deliver anti-reflection (AR) coatings with losses less than 0.5ppm, and high-reflection (HR) coatings with losses less than 2ppm.

This unique capability is based on photothermal common path interferometry, and when combined with proprietary calibration methods, results in measurement sensitivity of less than 0.1ppm for optical materials like fused silica.
Measurement services to customers wishing to measure absorption in their own coatings or substrates is also available including two dimensional mapping of surfaces.
The combination of extreme durability, high reliability, precision spectral control, and high laser damage threshold makes ion beam sputtering the coating method of choice for high power laser applications and low loss optics. Those unique performance should be of major interest to customers using these optics in ‘world leading’ 10kW class laser systems.

New PR-740 Spectroradiometer by Photo Research

BFi OPTiLAS, pan-European partner of Photo Research Inc is proud to announce the introduction of the latest in the SpectraScan spectroradiometers series, the PR-740.

The PR-740, the next evolution of the PR-730 shares many of the PR-730’s attributes such as a cooled 512 element detector, multiple apertures and variable bandwidth. There are, however, two major differences between the PR-730 and PR-740 – sensitivity and speed.

The PR-740 boasts a sensitivity improvement of 20:1 over the PR-730, and a speed improvement of approximately 250:1! A 1 fL (3.4 cd/m2) measurement takes about 3 seconds! The sensitivity of the PR-740 (5E-6 with the 2° aperture) makes it possible to perform virtually all display testing, including contrast, gray scale linearity and gamma, spectrally!

Precision Photonics Innovative Low GVD Polarizing Solutions

Those polarizing beam splitter have been specifically designed for broadband femtosecond applications requiring high extinction and low dispersion. By utilizing a low dispersion coating design within an epoxy-free, fused silica prism assembly, this unique laser component is ideal for all Ti:Sapphire lasers used within the 700-1100 nm wavelength region.

Like our other standard prism polarizers, surface quality will be 20-10 or better with transmitted wavefront < λ/10 and a clear aperture > 10 mm. Low loss IBS BBAR coatings will be provided on the input and output faces.
Low GVD Cube polarizers

BFi OPTiLAS also offers dielectric coatings offering unique benefit over commonly used Metal mirrors for general-purpose broadband high reflectors which drawbacks include susceptibility to laser damage, mechanical abrasions and surface degradation. BFi OPTiLAS’s broadband dielectric coating covers a wide range or wavelengths (350-1100 nm) with >99% reflectivity, independent of both angle and polarization. The high-energy ion-beam-sputtering (IBS) process results in durable, dense dielectric films that have superior reflective and mechanical properties in addition to being easy to clean, scratch resistant and insensitive to environmental changes. With high damage thresholds (>5J/cm²) and low absorption, they are ideal for frequency doubled and tripled Nd:YAG lasers, fiber lasers and broadband or tunable laser applications.

Precision Photonics: New Line of Polarizing Beam Splitters

BFi OPTiLAS, pan-European partner of Precision Photonics Corporation (PPC), is proud to announce a new line of super broadband, high energy polarizers for visible to near-infrared applications.

Like our selection of laser-line polarizing beamsplitter cubes and beam combiners, these components utilize PPC’s advanced ion-beam-sputtering (IBS) coatings and Telcordia-qualified CADB® epoxy-free bonding technique to provide unique, low-loss optical components that are thermally stable and suitable for high power Nd:YAG and fiber laser applications where fluences are greater than 500 mJ/cm2 and calcite or cemented cube polarizers cannot be used.

This Super broadband polarizing cubessuper broadband polarizer maintains a > 500:1 extinction ratio throughout the entire Visible to Near-Infrared (400-1100nm) without sacrificing overall transmission (Tp > 92%) or damage threshold (> 10J/cm2!). These fused silica beam splitters are available with a standard ½” x ½” input face, and custom prism polarizer assemblies will be available in sizes from 1mm to > 25mm.
